These commitments have focused on creating a safe, fair and engaging place to work – where people thrive, are happy and healthy, and are able to engage in impactful community partnerships.
By embedding targets in a dedicated Sustainability Linked Loan, NSW LRS has strived to increase impact across material social issues, leading to positive outcomes for gender diversity and equality, the creation of safe and respectful workplaces, and support of disadvantaged communities.
Across FY24/25, NSW LRS increased representation of its executive female leaders to 57% and reached equal representation (50%) for the senior management cohort. Additionally, in acknowledgment of the current misrepresentation of female leaders across Australian businesses, NSW LRS launched a dedicated Women in Leadership Program to provide tailored development opportunities for female employees. The program incorporates mentorship and coaching, training, and industry networking opportunities, cultivating a strong pipeline of future female leaders at NSW LRS.

In FY25, acknowledging long entrenched carer distinctions, NSW LRS made significant changes to its Parental Leave Policy by offering increased benefits to new parents, regardless of gender. This approach removes any distinctions of primary and secondary carer, ensuring equal access to paid leave entitlements –recognising all parents, regardless of gender, have an equal role to play in parenting responsibilities. NSW LRS is proud that since its inception, males have represented the majority taking leave – creating opportunities to reduce gender stereotypes and balance parenting responsibilities.
A foundation of NSW LRS’ social commitments is to foster a workplace and culture that prioritises mental health and wellbeing. In FY24/25, NSW LRS has proudly delivered initiatives to ensure mental health is openly discussed to reduce stigma, increase education and awareness and ensure professional support systems are readily available. This includes the on-site Employee Assistance Program which provides staff with direct access to mental health professionals and immediate support when needed.
Employees have also been provided training opportunities with Red Cross Australia, with 18 staff receiving Mental Health First Aider certifications – embedding increased support within the organisation while providing life-long skills in handling a mental health concern or crisis.

We understand that our success is inextricably linked to an ability to create meaningful and positive relationships with our employees, customers, industry partners and wider society. The NSW LRS team have proudly delivered initiatives that increase our impact against important social issues, ensuring that our employees, customers and the broader NSW community are at the forefront of our decision making.
