In 2024, NSW LRS continued to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. By ensuring that 100% of purchased electricity was sourced renewably, NSW LRS successfully realised a 62% reduction in its scope 1 + 2 emissions (vs. 2021 baseline) – representing a reduction of 145 tonnes of CO2e.
Since 2019, NSW LRS has strived to reduce its impacts on the environment and meet its emission reduction targets established in a dedicated Sustainability Linked Loan. Over these 6 years, significant reductions in its carbon footprint (for direct emissions) have been achieved, ensuring NSW LRS is on a pathway toward carbon neutrality.

Additionally, as NSW LRS’ understanding of its carbon footprint has matured, it recognised that approximately 11% of supply chain emissions (scope 3) were associated with commuting. NSW LRS introduced a new employee benefit – The Novated Lease Program – seeking to increase accessibility and affordability of electric vehicles (EV) for staff and their families while also reducing generation of commuting emissions.
In recognition of its commitments and performance toward sustainability, NSW LRS received a 5-star rating for the 2024 GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment. GRESB is an international benchmark for ESG management and performance in real estate and infrastructure investments.
In 2024, NSW LRS placed second in its specialised industry class (Data Infrastructure: Other) scoring 97% and retaining its 5-star rating for a 6th successive year. This score placed NSW LRS 69th out of 694 participating assets globally, and 56th amongst global private sector entities.
