The newly formed Australian Land Registry Operators (ALRO), representing five private operators/service providers of land registries across Australia, has been established to maximise the value delivered to customers through cooperation and innovation. ALRO brings together Secure Electronic Registries Victoria (SERV), NSW Land Registry Services (NSW LRS), Titles Queensland, Land Services SA, and Land Services WA, which together represent 95% of the nation’s land registry data and supports more than $10 trillion in residential property by value.
A national approach for positive change
This joint activity was formed as a direct response to customers feedback who found it difficult to access consistent land registry data solutions.
Together these five organisations offer a selection of consistent products and services across Australia, including financial services, insurance, real estate, legal & conveyancing, utilities, and government. This also empowers Information Brokers, who use technology and expertise to provide essential services to their customers. In addition, this enables the Proptech sector to easily scale nationally.
This will increase consistency in the provision of land registry data, and the products offered. It will also enable a streamlined engagement approach for customers. Importantly, for the long-term efficiencies offered by this initiative, the data products available will be consistent across each of the five states, the data they contain is equivalent, in the same format, and accessed through the same connection points.
The registries are a key data source for our customers, and together our five states cover 95% of land registry data in Australia, which means a step change in the efficiencies that we can offer our customers.
Crucially, this initiative helps any organisation that uses registry data to increase innovation, speed up processes and move towards fully digital land registry data. Partners such as information brokers are a vital part of the property data ecosystem and the registries are focused on supporting them to provide better services and develop their own businesses.
This co-ordination, between five separate and non-competing entities is an exemplar of how we strive to always put our customers, and ultimately the communities within each state, at the forefront of our approach to doing business.
The collective’s national approach ensures streamlined processes that make it easier for customers and stakeholders to engage with land registries.
The collective was formed because we believe that by working together, we can help existing and new customers leverage rich registry data for the benefit of the wider community. While each of us operates very differently within our own State, national customers value consistency and ease of access, which ALRO enables us to provide.
