Improvements to the compiled plan and partial survey approval process are making it faster and easier for surveyor customers to prepare these documents for lodgment with NSW Land Registry Services (NSW LRS).
New RG’s Guidelines enable surveyors to lodge without NSW LRS approval
Changes to the Registrar General’s Guidelines (RG’s Guidelines) set out the updated requirements for compiled plans and partial surveys, reducing the need for surveyors to request approval from NSW LRS prior to lodgment.
Surveyors can now prepare and submit compiled plans and partial surveys to NSW LRS when they believe the plan meets the criteria set out in the RG’s Guidelines without obtaining prior approval from an NSW LRS Plan and Title Advisor.
Where a compiled plan or partial survey agrees with the requirements of the RG’s Guidelines, surveyors are asked to add a generic Mfile number “20M (Comp)” in the Surveyors Reference field of the plan and Administration Sheet.

New form for compiled plan and partial survey approval requests
Where NSW LRS approval is required prior to the lodgment of a compiled plan or partial survey, customers are asked to use the new digital Compiled and Partial Survey Approval Request Form.
This ‘smart’ digital form assists surveyors in collating the information necessary to obtain compiled and partial survey approval, enabling NSW LRS’ Plan and Title Advisors to manage and respond to these enquiries more quickly. NSW LRS’ Plan and Title Advisors provide specialist advice to surveyors about compiled and partial survey approvals to assist in determining how to prepare a plan so that it is suitable for lodgment and registration, when the plan does not meet the requirements of the RG’s Guidelines.
Surveyors can submit the completed Compiled and Partial Survey Approval Request Form along with any supporting documentation to Plan and Title Advisors by email to Plan-Info@nswlrs.com.au.
